With over two decades of experience raising animals, Chris and I have built a wealth of knowledge and expertise that we bring to our breeding program. Chis and I started raising cattle and have amassed grand champion awards from some of the country’s largest and most prestigious stock shows, including the Houston Stock Show, State Fairs in Texas, Florida, Arizona, California, Colorado, and Louisiana. I say this to say we believe this recognition is a testament to our dedication to breeding excellence and our ability to understand what a “breed standard” is and to produce dogs that meet the highest standards of the breed. Many years ago, I had an old cattleman explain the term “form follows function.” This architectural and design principle states that the form or shape of an object should be based on its intended function or purpose. We strongly believe this principle is just as important in breeding dogs as it is in designing buildings. If you want your dog (or any animal) to perform as they were intended, they must be put together correctly!
By applying the concept of “form follows function” to our breeding program, we create dogs that are not only beautiful but also functional and healthy. We coined the phrase “capable dog” to describe our ideal dog – a dog that can participate in daily dog and family activities without fear of harm yet still enjoy a lazy evening watching TV with their family.

At Crooked Star Bulldogges, Chris and I understand that health and temperament are top priorities and the core of our breeding program. We take great care to ensure that all of our dogs are healthy and free of genetic diseases. We also emphasize the importance of temperament, breeding dogs that are well-adjusted, friendly, and easy to train. This attention to detail ensures that every puppy that comes from Crooked Star Bulldogges is a healthy and well-rounded companion.
Transparency
Transparency is fundamental and a core tentent to our relationship with our customers. Chris and I believe that being open and honest about our breeding practices, the health and temperament of our dogs, and the lineage of our puppies is crucial in building trust with our customers. We also provide our customers with health clearances and other important documents to ensure they get a healthy, well-adjusted puppy.

When purchasing a puppy, it’s common for breeders to claim that their puppies are “vet-checked.” However, Chris and I take extra steps to provide transparency in our breeding program by providing the actual complete health records, including the “vet check” chart notes from our veterinarian for not only the puppy but the entire litter. Additionally, we have given our veterinarian full authority to discuss our breeding program, our facilities, and any health records of the dogs in the puppy’s lineage. This ensures that your veterinarian can provide better care and see the full picture of the puppy you brought home.
This transparency extends to every monetary transaction. In short, purchasing a puppy is a “buyer beware” and unregulated transaction. It is our intent to make every part of the transaction, from the deposit to the final pick-up transparent, recordable, and trackable. For example, we do not accept any form of payment for the initial deposit that is not covered by the “Fair Credit Act,” such as cash payments or any “app” like CashApp, Venmo, or Zelle where the transaction is not protecting both parties.
